Jim Brooks

Jim recently retired from Sappi’s Somerset Mill after working as Environmental Manager since January of 2021. Prior to that, Jim worked for three years managing all environmental, health, safety, and security programs for the GE Power facilities in Bangor, Maine. Jim held roles as a Senior Project Manager for Sevee and Maher Engineers, Inc., focused on environmental permitting, compliance and reporting, stakeholder relations, and strategic planning, and as the Environmental Health Safety Manager for Verso Paper Corporation in Bucksport. From 1984–2011, Jim worked for the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, including fifteen years as the Manager of the Bureau of Air Quality, and a six-month term as Acting Commissioner.
