Brian Graber

Senior Director, Dam Removal Strategy, American Rivers

Brian is the senior strategy lead for American Rivers’ National Dam Removal Program, which is dedicated to removing dams that have become unsafe, uneconomical, obsolete, or whose impacts otherwise outweigh their benefits. Trained as a fluvial geomorphologist and water resources engineer, he specializes in river habitat restoration and building restoration programs and partnerships. In his current role, he has trained professionals across the country to remove dams, and he leads American Rivers’ national dam safety and dam removal policy advocacy. Prior to joining American Rivers, he was the River Restoration Scientist at the Massachusetts Riverways Program, where he helped guide the development of the state’s River Restoration Priority Project Program. He also previously coordinated Trout Unlimited’s Small Dams Program. Brian served on the Board of Directors of the Penobscot River Restoration Trust and as a Board Alternate for the Klamath River Renewal Corporation. He lives in Farmington.
